Survey technology and software have evolved considerably in this time, and we have sought to keep up with those changes. In some situations, we now see survey areas once measured by multiple teams in a week being achieved in a single day by UAV. That said, there is still requirement to measure features by direct pole measurement and in small construction sites the total station is still the go-to instrument for fast accurate stake out.
In many cases deliverables are now multi-gigabyte and there is a pattern of design offices catching up with what the surveyor can provide.
